Temperate Deciduous Forests cover one eighth of the earth. Temperate Deciduous Forests are generally located in the eastern or central United States. They are located virtually everywhere in Europe. Also, they are located in Southwest and Central Asia. In the United States the average elevation in Temperate Deciduous Forests is 0-500 feet. In the Temperate Deciduous Forests in Asia the average elevation is 2000-5000 feet. In Europe's Temperate Deciduous Forests the average elevation is 1000-2000 feet.

The terrain in the Temperate Deciduous Forest varies. A few of the terrain types are: crags, cliffs, mountains, valleys, plateaus, and rolling hills. China has every temperate tree species within its borders.
